testplaying - things about testplayingDESCRIPTION
WHY TESTPLAY? There are many reasons for testplaying. One reason is that it is a good way to find bugs. Another is that it is a chance to compare the guild with the existing guilds. And, the guildcoordinator demands it, so you really have no choice. WHAT TO DO BEFORE Instruction on how testplaying should be made: First choose maximum 3 testplayers (exactly 3 is recomended). Choose a testplayer name for each of them. Report to guildcoordinators what names the testplayers have and the corresponding names for their real chars. (These names will be written into the permission-file before testplaying starts). Create _testchars_ for these players, and register them on you. It is important that they are testchars since that makes it possible to patch the players to be on the right level etc. that should be tested at the moment. Also players are likely to come upon real serious bugs, and it is much better if they are discovered by testplayers. WHAT TO DO DURING THE TESTPLAY Try to be on a lot during the tesplay. The tesplayer will have a lot of questions and bugs for you to take care of. WHAT TO DO AFTERWARDS When the testplaying is done all testplayers should write a report about the testplaying. To get this report structured and easy to compare to other testplaying reports it should answer the following questions (in this order): * What drawback is the worst in the guild (explain why). * What power is the best in the guild (specify a lot) * Is the guild balanced towards all other guilds in Nannymud? * What would make you choose to join/ refuse to join this guild? * Are all guildpowers/drawbacks suitable for the guild? * Is there some power/drawback you think the guild lacks that would be suitable? * Is there anything in the guild that could be abusable? * What bugs have you found in the guild while testplaying? (The report may also take up other subjects that the testplayer wants. Common things are to write a conclusion that states everything that was not completly covered by the above questions.) This report should at least be mailed to the guildcoordinator that checks out the guild and the guildmaster.
